Tubes, Tubes, and more tubes...
Well, to my dismay, Hayden has inherited my ear problems and had to have tubes put in for a second time on Friday (March 12, 2010). The first set was put in at 9 months and they helped him tremendously! He had an ear infection a month for the first 6 months. I thought breastfeeding helped kids not get ear infections?? Anywho, we were supposed to get his adenoids taken out also. So we show up at 8 a.m. they took him back and said they were going to put him all the way under anthesthia because he was having them removed. (last time it was just gas) So, I handed over my child, which is the worst feeling in the world, and they took him back. It was only supposed to take 20 min for the surgery but that was not the case. When the came to get Brooks and I to talk to Dr. Bracato, he said that Hayden's O2 had dropped during surgery and his blood pressure was up. The anthesiologist did not want to lower his oxygen level below 100% and the dr couldn't use the laser to cut the adenoids unless it was lowered to 30%. So, he opted not to do the procedure. I was so thankful that he didn't take the risk. So, when Hayden woke up from the anthesthia he was pissed that there was a IV in his hand and didn't quit crying until we got him to the car. He slept for 4 hrs when we got home and man did he feel better when he woke up. He is starting to gibberjabber all the time now. The dr had to drain his ear because of the amount of fluid built up behind his ear. No wonder he didn't hear very well for the past month or so. Poor guy. I am so thankful he is feeling better now.
