I am proud toI am proud toI am proud toI am proud toI am proud to announce the arrival of Hayden Ryan-Zephryn Mattox. He was born at 7:40 AM on October 28, 2008 weighing 8 pounds, 10 ounces and measuring 19 inches long. Hayden was delivered by c-section.
He is a few weeks early so he is currently in the NICU with minor breathing problems. Both baby and mother are doing well and should make a full recovery within the week. Andrea will be going home on Friday morning and we expect Hayden to make the trip home a few days after that. Attached are a few pictures from the day's activities.

He's got me wrapped around his pinkie already. :). I'm definitely no
longer the princess. A prince was born today .). Ha ha.
Please say a prayer for him. He's still in icu.

Called and checked on baby. They uped his oxygen to 23-24 from
midnights check. She said she had to up it when she put him on his
left side. She said that the lung on that side was probably not as
inflated as the other side. He had a bowel movement at midnight also
which was good. He gained an ounce since delivery. She said it could
be from the fluids they are pushing. We will know later if he truly
gained that. His vitals are good. Keep praying for him. Seems
like he's ok. She said they may do a feeding tube today but she's not
sure. That's all I know for now. Ill call and check again at 6 am
when they do my vitals again. I haven't slept much. Pain is worse
tonight. I got up and moved around about midnight and lost some blood
on the floor.

Hey,
Haydens not doing so great today. His oxygen had to be uped to 30
percent and if it goes up over 50 he will have to be put on a
ventilator. So he can't be touched or talked to today. I'm freaking
out and can barely see to type this. Please pray. I really need to
sleep cause I didn't get any last night. If you don't mind, can you
wait to come see him till tomm or friday?

I'm still in the hospital. Hayden is in the NICU right now. He might
be in there til next week. His lungs weren't quite ready. He's
gaining weight in the NICU though which is great news. He now weighs
8lb 14.8 oz! I still haven't been able to hold him or feed him. So
any chance I get to be with him is priceless. Did I send you a pix of
him? Well gotta eat and take a nap.

Hey!
Thank you very much for my fruit arrangement! I love it. Hayden is
getting a little better by the day. I finally get to hold him this
afternoon. Yeah!!

Hey girl! He looks great and my goodness is one large boy! Looks like he is put together alright tho I am glad everything went so well and I hope you are feeling good(as well as expected anyway!). I worked 13's all week and didn't want to call you at eleven when I got off but in hindsight I probably should have to prepare you for those midnight feedings! I can't wait to get daddy down there to see him. Hopefully that will be next weekend. Keep me posted on how things go as far as how well you feel and if you want to be bombarded with visitors. We can wait a few more weeks til you are all settled if needed. I totally understand and so will everyone else. Make your needs known girl and get your rest!

Subject: New Hayden Pix and Update
Hi Everyone!
Just a quick update on Hayden's progress. He is still in the NICU but he is improving everyday. He ate through a feeding tube yesterday and they took the oxygen mask off of him. Brooks and I got to hold him and he really enjoys being in his mommy and daddy's arms. We are feeling the prayers coming our way so please keep 'em coming. The doctor is optimistic that he will come home early next week. He just needed a little more baking time on his lungs. He weighed in at 8lb 10 oz at birth and has gone up and down on the scales since. He is now 8lb 7oz and is very alert and active in the NICU. He's the biggest baby in there right now. I've attached a birth announcement to the email and a few more pix from his stay in the hospital. He really is a good mixture of Brooks and I. I think he looks more like his daddy though. :) Thank you for the calls, emails and prayers. We really appreciate them. I'll keep you posted and send pix of his homecoming when we get to that point.

Hey girl! I feel ok. My feet are really, really swollen. I'm not
quite sure what to do for them. Just got back from the hospital.
Hayden is drinking from the bottle today (my milk) and is not under
the oxygen dome. Which is fantastic news. He ate an entire ounce in
no time. Poor little guy is starving. :). I am going to have to pump
double time to keep up with him and his appetite. My milk just came
in last night thankfully. I must say, the girls have never been so
perky ;). Ha ha ha..

As for your feet, THEY probably can't do anything for them but YOU can! Elevate, elevate, elevate. And watch your sodium intake. I know it's hard to get your feet up while running back and forth to the hospital but it can be done. It's just the shifts in fluid causing it. Tho only other thing they can do is give you lasix but then you would piss yourself to death and I am not even sure if that is safe while breastfeeding.
I will try my best to get daddy up there sunday if your sure that's ok. I promise if that's too much on you it will be fine for us to wait another week. I know doesn't want to but it's better for you to rest. I will check with you closer to that time. Lots of love for you!

Guess what? I got him to breastfeed him last night! I was really
worried that I would be weirded out by it but it was actually kinda
neat. He didn't like the left boob because it was too big. It is
bigger than his head. ;). Ha ha ha.... Anywho, you can come whenever
you would like. As long as you're feeling ok. They nurses have been
very admiment about watching the germy bugs around him. I just don't
want to offend people by telling them they can't touch him if they
aren't feeling good. ??? Anywho, what is your phone number?

You need to be adamant about telling people if they are sick stay away! No one will get offended. I feel a little gassy at the moment but other than that I am ok I will check with Daddy and let you know. I am so glad you got to feed him like a puppy! I can't say I am looking forward to that part and hope i can pump the baby a bottle and give it immediately after delivery lol. Must be nice to have the dolly boobs. I got mine taken out back in June. Too many problems. Maybe I will grow some big ones on my own now! My digits are 615-590-7644 at home and 615-887-6109 cell. Talk with you soon and keep your dogs up so they won't swell!

Don't worry, the girls will get LARGE if you pump! Mine are huge now.
He is such a man already because he has favorite boob. :). He
doesn't like to nurse on the left at all because he is too big. :).
On the feet swelling, no matter what I do, they won't go down. I've
laid down all day and drank a gallon of water and nothing... The dr
said I can't take a diaretic because I'm breastfeeding. How long does
it take for swelling to go away after pregnancy?

He's still in the NICU. He's on the progressive side though. Which is
the stable baby side and he's been on this side since Sunday. He's
been in the NICU since he was born. It has been a really rough week.
They know he was premature but by how much we are not sure. We were
hoping for him to come home today but his oxygen saturation dropped
yesterday so he has to stay a little bit longer. I'm getting ready to
feed him in a lttle while.

It is funny to look at those! Now I know all the answers to your questions;) from experience. I also get to "feed like a Puppy" around the clock for Aubrey. So funny...
